Landan Baxlee Hydrick
Research Consultant Intern
Mental Fitness, Inc., Sharpen Minds
It is a great excursion to be an intern for Mental Fitness, Inc. and Sharpen Minds through Service Learning. My main focus is helping with the research of the mental health app; this is to help with my research skills and also to help launch the app. Not only do I get to help the community, but I also get to take with me into the world many necessary skills and much needed knowledge. I one day hope to get accepted into a clinical psychology PhD program at a graduate school and become a psychologist because I want to help those who suffer from mental illness. This company is perfect for me because I am being exposed to such unique and remarkable ways to prevent mental illness in the community through mindfulness and resiliency with the use of a smartphone app. I hope to take all of my skills and knowledge I learn through this service to graduate school and then to my residency, so that I may be a very well-rounded psychologist. Not only will I use this experience with my career, but I also will use it to further enhance my interactions with people and apply these skills to the real world.
