On January 15, 2017, White Elephant Enterprises was awarded the 2018 Martin Luther King, Jr. Business Humanitarian Award, alongside The Bethlehem Center of Spartanburg who received the Nonprofit Humanitarian Award presented by the City of Spartanburg at the 31st Annual Unity Day celebration at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
White Elephant Enterprises is grateful to the more than 30 college students, interns and staff who have collaborated to make our work possible these last 3 years in Spartanburg. We send a special thank you to USC Upstate and the Johnson College of Business / Greenhouse Business Incubator, for helping us launch our company and take the risks necessary to thrive.
White Elephant is a production company based in downtown Spartanburg, led by Tim Farrell and Robyn Hussa Farrell who have worked in the entertainment industry for over 50 years, collectively. White Elephant’s passion is to offer a unique perspective to the narratives of individuals and organizations. We challenge the status quo to transform communities – one voice at a time. Working primarily in high needs neighborhoods; our team brings technology and digital media skills to residents of all ages. White Elephant’s projects have ranged from ongoing documentary film series’ about Spartanburg’s Northside Development Group, Way to Wellville and Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light, to highlighting the work of non-profit organization such as Angels Charge Ministries and VCOM. We also produce large-scale special media projects such as Video Village and Innovation Village projects in Highland.
White Elephant is passionate about diversity and inclusion, empowerment and sharing of authentic voice – as no project is truly successful without engagement among all individuals regardless of size, gender, race or creed. White Elephant has brought forward powerful stories of hope and healing to inspire positive growth and strategies for overcoming adversity. Our team also provides tactical training in digital media, innovation and technology so that individuals throughout Spartanburg County are connected to employment in the digital innovation space. Our team would not exist without the collaborative partners in this community; including over 30 college student interns, USC Upstate, The Greenhouse at The George Dean Johnson College of Business, the Mary Black Foundation, Northside Development Group, Chapman Cultural Center, City of Spartanburg, Wofford College and others.
